Demanding the Army Corps of Engineers shut down the Dakota Access Pipeline

According to the Native Organizers Alliance, despite a federal judge pulling the permit that allowed the Dakota Access Pipeline to function, oil is still flowing through it three years later. The pipeline presents innumerable problems, from the potential to contaminate and poison the Missouri River and critical water sources to the breach of sovereignty of Oceti Sakowin and Standing Rock Sioux. And now, a new piece of the puzzle has entered the chat. A new Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) has been issued to much controversy for its lack of transparency and a failure to adequately shed light on the dangers of the pipeline. Cue, the action – adding a public comment to demand that the pipeline be shut down. Take that action here.

This action comes by way of kateyforchange – make sure to give her a follow!

10 SECOND ACTION ITEM

Brought to by Coherus BioSciences

Coherus Biosciences is taking on Big Pharma, offering life-changing FDA-approved biosimilar medications at a fraction of the cost. The global biosimilar company strives to offer patients affordable medical treatment, and they’re hoping that their latest release, Yusimry, will help the 5 million veterans currently battling arthritis. Despite the VA expressing support for biosimilars in the past, they’ve been dragging their feet with adding new options to their National Formulary. Remind Congress that limited options mean longer wait times for veterans, and it's time for them to get the care they deserve by sending them this pre-written digital note.

Add your name to the petition

Come December 13th, it will have been 100 years since the Equal Rights Amendment was first introduced in the House of Representatives. And 100 years later the ERA is still not a part of the Constitution – like bro, wtf?! Apparently having equal rights gets some people’s panties in a twist. Ranting and raving aside, the ERA Coalition is continuing to build momentum for bringing the ERA from concept to permanent reality, which you can help along as well by signing this petition. And for those in DC on the 13th, the ERA Coalition will be holding a march that you can register for here.

TINGS TO TAKE NOTE OF

A little this, a little that

  • A Wisconsin circuit court judge said 1849 who?! Ruling that a law from a year long long ago does not outlaw abortion in the state. Most likely this sitch will end up in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court [hi, Janet!!].

  • Texas AG Ken Paxton’s ‘paxion’ projects have moved well beyond corruption and into the cruelty category, saying that any doctor that performs an abortion even with a court exemption granted will be prosecuted. But it’s “about women and children….” sureeee Jan Ken.
